The text published by the Chancery of the Portuguese Honorific Orders, reads as follows "Having initiated his career as a law Professor at the prestigious University of Coimbra Law School, he has distinguished himself as a Lawyer of great merit together with a diligent political activist. During the past decade Júdice has had a relevant role within the scope of the defence of both Human and Institutions' rights, this having culminated with the organisation of the Congress of Justice for which he played the main role. President of the Portuguese Bar Association from 2002 to 2004, he has won the respect of his peers for the way he performed his mandate being an important and ever present voice in favour of reforms within the administration of Justice."
