José Miguel Júdice and the Arbitration in Portugal - detached by Portuguese Newspaper “Jornal de Negócios”
José Miguel Júdice, PLMJ Senior Partner and Founder, in an article published in the Portuguese economical newspaper” Jornal de Negócios” of the 12th October 2005 declares that « should it be permitted many of the Portuguese magistrates would decide against arbitration» these declarations were pronounced by José Miguel Júdice at the IBA, International Bar Association, Convention in Prague .According to the Dr. Júdice, at the moment participating in 30 arbitrations cases, «Arbitration is businessmen’s justice» and « this aversion against arbitration derives from the fact that judges consider arbitration as a “breach” in the monopoly which, as their profession, they try to preserve.
